Call Out 50 Glendalough Rescue 13/08/16

 

At approximately 13:15hrs on Saturday, August 13th, both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Montain Rescue Team were tasked by an Garda Síochána to an incident in Glendalough.

A female climber took a significant fall near Acorn Buttress, overlooking the Miner’s Village. A doctor, who was a member of the climbing party, began to care for the woman until Mountain Rescue personnel arrived on scene. Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 116, was also tasked to the incident. MR personnel and the Rescue 116 winchman packaged the climber into a stretcher and she was airlifted to hospital. The incident was stood down at 15:50hrs.
