Call Out 40: White Hill Rescue 30/06/16

At approximately 19.00hrs on Thursday, June 30th, both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochanna to come to the assistance of a young Danish woman who had suffered a lower leg injury on White Hill.
 

Both she and her friend had been hiking and camping along the Wicklow Way when the incident occurred. Rescue 116 was also on scene, and airlifted the injured girl to safety.

Call Out 39: Djouce Wood Rescue 22/06/16

Just after 20:30hrs on Wednesday, June 22nd, both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to assist a mountain biker in his 30’s, who had taken a tumble on the trails in Djouce Wood.

Both teams had been training in the area so a quick and substantial response was sent to assist the injured biker and a HSE Ambulance was also tasked. Mountain Rescue personnel quickly accessed the biker and treated him on scene for his injuries. At this stage the ambulance had arrived and he was transferred to hospital for treatment. The incident was stood down at approximately 21:20.

Call Out 38: Newtownmountkennedy Search 18/06/16

At approximately 14:25hrs on Saturday, June 18th, both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by an Garda Síochána to assist in the search for a missing person in the region of Newtownmountkennedy. Teams were starting to mobilize and a request for help was also put into the Search and Rescue Dogs Association (SARDA).

Thankfully the missing person was located safe and well soon afterwards and the search was stood down.

Call Out 37: Barnaslingan Rescue 12/06/16

At approximately 14:45hrs on Sunday, June 12th, both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to assist a 57-year-old female near Barnaslingan. The woman sustained an ankle injury whilst walking on the Dublin Mountain Way with a hillwalking group.

Mountain Rescue personnel located the hillwalker and treated her for her injury. She was then packaged into a stretcher and transported to an MR vehicle for transfer to a waiting ambulance. The incident was stood down at aproximately 16:20hrs.

Call Out 36: Derrybawn Search 09/06/16

Call Out 36: At approximately 16.30hrs on Thursday June 9th both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochanna to come to the assistance of a small group who had become separated from one another in the Derrybawn area. An MR 4×4 was dispatched up onto the forest tracks and came across the missing party. MR personnel then transported the missing party down off the hill. Once the group were reunited the operation was stood down.

Call Out 35: Brockagh Rescue 07/06/16

At 20:20hrs on Tuesday, 7th June, The Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to come to the aid of a 38 year old male hill runner on Brockagh Mountain, near Glendalough.

The man had just begun his descent from the summit when he sustained an injury to his left ankle. He was given basic first aid and kept warm by his friends until help arrived.

Mountain Rescue Personnel were dispatched to the scene swiftly. He was treated by M.R. Medical Personnel and evacuated off the mountain by stretcher. The incident was stood down at 22:41.

Call Out 34: Glendalough Rescue 05/06/16

Shortly after noon on Sunday, 5th June, The Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to come to the aid of a 56 year old female walker on the zig zag track above the Miner’s Village in Glendalough.

The lady had been out walking with her husband and dog when she sustained an injury to her lower left leg. She was treated on scene by Mountain Rescue Medical personnel and stretchered to an awaiting HSE ambulance for transfer to hospital. The incident was stood down at 14:18hrs.

Call Out 33: Sugarloaf Rescue 01/06/16

At 13:20hrs on Wednesday 1st June, The Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to come to the aid of a 62 year old female walker on The Sugarloaf. The lady slipped, fell and struck her head on descent.

The casualty was treated on scene by MR and HSE Medical personnel, MR personnel assisted the Coastguard winchman with packaging the casualty and she was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital.

The incident was stood down at 15:12.
