Christmas Rescues (25/12/08)

At 14:00, Christmas Day, Gardai were alerted by concerned members of the public to shouts heard near Eagle’s Nest, above Lough Bray Lower just outside Enniskerry. Volunteers from The Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team met with Gardai to conduct a search of the area. The search was inconclusive and was stood down.

The following day, St. Stephen’s Day, just after 14:15, both Mountain Rescue Teams were called out again to assist a female casualty in the Enniskerry area. The woman was out walking with friends in the Glensoulan valley (near Powerscourt), when she fell and sustained a suspected fracture to her lower leg. The lady’s friends moved her a short distance, but stopped due to the amount of pain she was in. The Coastguard Helicopter was called in to airlift the casualty to hospital.

Mountain Rescue wish to thank all agencies involved in both operations.
