Woman Rescued with Lower Leg Injuries (29/12/08)

At 14:28 this afternoon, Monday 29th December 2008, the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were called by Gardaí to the aid of a female hill-walker with a lower leg injury. It is the third time the teams have been active since Christmas Day.

The woman had been out hill-walking with a group of other walkers on Mullacor Mountain (between Glendalough and Glenmalure), heading towards the Wicklow Way track for Glenmalure, when she slipped on ice and sustained a lower leg injury.

Due to the proximity of the casualty to the forestry tracks, the woman was evacuated quickly by MR personnel, transferred to an ERHA ambulance and on to hospital.

Mountain Rescue wish to thank all agencies involved in this successful rescue.
