New year rescue (01/01/09)

The Glen of Imaal team got its first call out of 2009 within hours of the start of the new year. At 14:00 today (01/01/09) the team got a call for assistance to help an injured female hill-runner(40’s) on the Spink Mountain in Glendalough. She had been out enjoying the boardwalk when she slipped and injured her knee.

The Glen team, together with Dublin/Wicklow, arrived on site at 14:40 and treated the walker for her leg injury and hypothermia because of the freezing temperatures. Due to the weather the coastguard helicopter wasn’t able to airlift the casualty so she was carried off the mountain to an ERHA ambulance to be taken to hospital for further examination

Mountain Rescue wish to thank all agencies involved in this successful operation.
