Glendalough Rescue 04/05/14

  • On Sunday 04/05/14 at approx 16.52hrs the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were asked to assist two young men who were participants taking part in an orienteering competition whose main base of operations was at Turlough Hill. Though both of the young men were experienced navigators they had become disorientated in very poor visibility conditions. Eventually they found themselves on the zig zag path decending into Glendalough from the Glenalo valley. At this point they stopped a passer by and asked for mobile phone to request assistance. A Glen Team 4×4 vehicle was dispatched to the miners village and shorty afterward contact was made. The two young men were then safely driven back to Turlough Hill.
