• On Sunday 04/05/14 at approx 14.15hrs the Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 116 sent a request to An Garda Siochana to task both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team to come to the assistance of a young woman in her 20’s who was suffering from medical difficulties on the side of Sugarloaf Mountain. Due to low cloud cover the Coast Guard heli was unable to effect a successful rescue although they did manage to get the winchman onto Sugarloaf. Mountain Rescue personnel made their way to where the young woman and winchman were and assisted in moving her down off the mountain to a waiting HSE ambulance. She was then transported to hospital for definitive care.
