At approximately 13:00hrs on Wednesday December 16th both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Síochána to come to the assistance of a teenage girl on the Sugarloaf. The girl had been walking with a school group, when she sustained a lower leg injury.
Advanced Paramedics from the Health Services Executive (HSE) were also on-scene and assessed the girl’s injuries. It was decided to airlift the girl to hospital. The Irish Coastguard helicopter Rescue 116 was tasked to perform the lift. The operation was stood down at 13:45hrs.
Mountain Rescue would like to thank all the agencies involved, including: An Garda Síochána, HSE National Ambulance Service, and the Irish Coast Guard.
