Call Out 50: Wicklow Way Incident 31/08/15

At approximately 20.20hrs on Monday the 31st of August both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and The Dublin Dublin Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochanna to prepare for a search for a hill walker who had been reported as missing by her walking companion.

The two women were walking the Wicklow Way and were on the Tinahely to Shillelagh section when one of the women became concerned when she had not seen her friend for approx 4 hrs. She searched along the route herself before meeting a member of the public who offered to drive her to Shillelagh village where she raised the alarm.

While plans were being made by MR personnel for a search of the area, the missing woman was found safe and well in a pub in Shillelagh. The incident was then stood down.

Mountain Rescue would like to thank all agencies involved.
