Seefin Search 28/05/14

• On Wednesday the 28th of May at approx 17.45 hrs both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochana to search for a woman in her fifties who had been reported as missing after she went walking near Seefin mountain with her husband. They had become separated and he was unsuccessful in trying to locate her. Both teams assembled in Athdown to formulate a search plan and Coast Guard helicopter 116 was also tasked. Thankfully the woman was found by a family member a few kilometers from the scene before the search began in earnest.
• This was the first time for the Glen Teams new Incident Command Vehicle to be dispatched onto active service.
• Mountain Rescue Would like to thank all agencies involved including: Irish Coast Guard and local walkers who helped the lady’s husband in the initial stages of the search.
