Lost walkers rescued (14/12/08)

The Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were requested by Gardaí at 16:35, Sunday 14th December 2008, to come to the aid of two lost male hill-walkers.

The lost walkers had left the Upper Lake in Glendalough earlier today on an intended circular route. However, as darkness fell and they still had not returned to Glendalough, the pair realised they were lost and dialled 999 for Mountain Rescue.

Upon speaking with the walkers, it became apparent to Mountain Rescue Personnel, that they had in fact walked towards the Glenmalure valley along the Wicklow Way. A Mountain Rescue Vehicle was dispatched to locate them and return them to safety.

The incident was stood down at 17:22.

Mountain Rescue Teams thank all involved in this successful rescue.
