Call Out 53: Cushbawn Rescue 16/09/16

At approximately 14:30hrs on Friday 16th September, both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Síochána to come to the assistance of a man in his mid sixties who had sustained a lower leg injury whilst walking with another person on Cushbawn near Aughrim, South Wicklow.

Mountain Rescue medics assessed the casualty on scene and decided due to the nature of the injury and the remote location, to task Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 116. The casualty was packaged by Mountain Rescue personnel, placed in a stretcher and airlifted to hospital. The call-out was stood down at 17:20.
