Woman Rescued with Lower Leg Injuries (13/04/08)

At approximately 18:10 hours, Sunday 13th April, Gardaí in Wicklow alerted the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team to an injured hill-walker in Glendalough.

The Meath woman had been out walking with her partner on Spink Mountain and was just coming down off the blue route, a mere 200m from the main track, when she slipped and sustained a dislocation and fracture to her right lower leg.

Within twenty minutes of being alerted by Gardaí, Mountain Rescue personnel had a visual on the casualty and stretcher parties were en route to her aid. Ten minutes later (18:40 approx.), she was treated at the scene by MR personnel and was stretcher carried off the mountain to an awaiting ERHA Ambulance.

GOIMRT would like to thank all agencies involved in this swift and successful rescue.
