On Tuesday 11/06/2013 at 11.00hrs The Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team responded to a 999 call from Gardaí. A request for assistance from a woman who had been walking around the Glendalough upper lake and had become trapped on steep ground in very misty conditions. Both teams went into full callout status, requesting Technical Rescue personnel.
The National park launched their boat in the lake and a number of National park staff assisted in the rescue.
Team members got to the stranded woman from below and lowered in on ropes from above.
The woman was brought up to safety on ropes to a walking track approximately 30 meters above her and then walked back down to the car park.
