Busy weekend for mountain rescue (30/08/08)

At approx 1300hrs on Saturday 30th August the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Team were tasked to come to the aid of a middle aged man with chest and abdominal pain in the Glendalough Valley. Team members, carrying cardiac rescue equipment, reached the casualty and stabilised him until he and his wife were evacuated by helicopter to Tallaght Hospital.

Later that evening a call was received from a man and his young son who had become disorientated after leaving the summit of Lugnacoille. Members of the Wicklow Mountain Rescue Service, with their extensive knowledge of the mountains, were able to establish the location of the pair and talk them down to safety, all over the phone. An Army Ranger vehicle was dispatched to repatriate the walkers.
