On Sunday the 23rd of August at approximately 20:40hrs both the Glen Of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochanna to help investigate a possible water related incident on the Avonmore river outside Laragh.
Both teams were put on ‘Standby’ while initial local investigations were carried out to establish what action if any might be required. The river was in spate so Swiftwater Operators & Technicians were also tasked for the call. Thankfully, rescuers were able to verify that it was just debris in the water and the teams were stood down shortly after 21.30hrs.
Mountain Rescue would like to thank all agencies involved.
