On Saturday the 2nd of August at approx 15.50hrs both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochana to go to the assistance of a female walker who seemed to be experiencing difficulties while descending Djouce Mountain. The situation was reported by a hill runner who had come upon two German ladies. He realised one of them was experiencing pain as a result of an old knee injury and offered his assistance but the women indicated that they would continue on.
Still concerned when he reached his car, taking into account the poor weather conditions he decided to report the incident. Mountain Rescue personnel searched the forest tracks by use of two 4×4 vehicle’s. Eventually both ladies were found. At this point they were offered and accepted a lift back to their accommodation. No further assistance was required.
