Two Rescues(10/04/11)
The Glen of Imaal Red Cross MRT attended two incidents in quick succession this Sunday afternoon, 10th April 2011.
Details are as follows:
First callout – At 2pm a woman suffered a lower leg injury (possible fracture) on the Wicklow Way near the summit of Prince William’s Seat, near Enniskerry. Mountain Rescue attended the scene, and the walker was airlifted out to Tallaght hospital by the Irish Coastguard Sikorsky helicopter.
Second callout – At 3.30pm a walker on Sugar Loaf requested Mountain Rescue assistance. It is believed that the Fire Brigade may have been able to provide assistance, and the walker was also airlifted from the mountainside a few minutes ago, shortly before 4.30pm.
Fortunately the beautiful sunny day that has attracted so many people onto the hills today, also provided clear conditions to allow helicopter access to both scenes.
