Call Out 06: Maulin Rescue 13/02/16

Both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by an Garda Síochána at approximately 12:30hrs on Saturday 13th February. The tasking was to assist a female hillwalker who had sustained a lower leg injury near the summit of Maulin.

While Mountain Rescue were responding to the incident, the Irish Coastguard Rescue 116 was also tasked from Dublin Airport. Despite poor visibility, the helicopter managed to lower their winchman. The winchman and MR medics treated the woman for her injury. Rescue 116 was able to land near the casualty site, and a passing scout group assisted MR personnel with a short stretcher carry to the helicopter. MR personnel then assisted the rest of the woman’s hillwalking group off the hill. The incident was stood down shortly after 15:00hrs.

Mountain Rescue would like to thank all agencies involved including: Irish Coast Guard, An Garda Síochána, and the members of the 1st Wicklow Greystones scout group.
