At aproximately 13.49hrs on Friday the 15th of January both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked simultaneously by An Garda Siochanna and Irish Coast Guard to respond to a request for help for a Hill Walker on the Summit of Lugnaquillia.  Two hill parties were airlifted high onto the mountain before making their way to the summit where they found and evacuated the person via stretcher to Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 116. The operation was then stood down.
