Glenealo Rescue 17/05/14

  • On Saturday May the 17th at approximately 17.45hrs both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochana to come to the aid of a woman who had taken a fall and sustained a lower leg injury in Glendalough. She was among a party of five friends who had just finished lunch and were about to descend down to the miners village from the Glenealo Valley when the incident happened. The woman had slipped on steep ground but it was quickly ascertained that there was no need for a technical rescue as she was not in danger and could easily be moved to better terrain.

  • Once treated for her injuries she was stretchered down to a waiting HSE ambulance by mountain rescue personnel before being transported to hospital for definitive care.
  • Mountain Rescue would like to thank all agencies involved including: the HSE Ambulance Service
