5 Rescues in 24hrs for stranded drivers (18/01/13)

The Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team have attended 5 callouts in the past 24hrs, rescuing people stranded in their vehicles in heavy snow, on Wicklow’s high mountain roads, in or around, the Sally Gap area. The final callout of the night finished at 3am after team members delivered a stranded motorist to the Blessington Garda Station.

All roads leading to the Sally Gap as well as some other high mountain passes in the Wicklow area are still impassable.
